HOW A TYPICAL SCI SPORTS RUGBY FESTIVAL WORKS

DAY 1 - ARRIVAL DAY

No matches are played on the day of arrival at your chosen Holiday Park. Accommodation keys will be available from 4pm from reception to the group leader only for your booking, but teams can arrive on resort from 1pm and use all the facilities on park. Teams can enjoy the entertainment throughout the evening, and there is a team leaders meeting on Friday night for all coaches to attend – usually at 8pm – time and venue will be confirmed nearer the time of the festival.

DAYS 2 & 3 - SATURDAY & SUNDAY

The Rugby Begins! Teams will play matches on both Saturday & Sunday in their Age Grade & all matches will follow the RFU Guidelines.

Final format of Each Group will depend on the final number of teams entered in to that Age Group.

All teams attend the SCI Sports Celebrity Presentation Night at Golden Palm Resort on Sunday evening, where there are medals for all players plus additional trophies that are given to teams who truly respect the Core Values of Rugby.

DAY 4, MONDAY: DEPARTURE DAY

Teams are requested to Check out of all accommodation by 10.00am on Monday morning.

The SCI Sports Skegness Challenge is for teams in the Under 7s to Under 14s Age groups Plus Girls Under 12s & 14s too. The festival incorporates superb accommodation at Golden Palm Resort Holiday Park, professionally organised rugby festival in association with Skegness RFC & of course the spectacular celebrity presentation evening to close the weekend.

Join SCI Sports Rugby Festivals on tour at Skegness in 2025 for a fun filled rugby weekend, which will build team spirit and friendship amongst players, coaches & supporters. The weekend is also a great way to play against a selection of different teams from different parts of the UK.

SCI Sports has over 30 years experience of organising junior sports festivals across the UK, so you can be assured of a professionally organised Weekend.  All SCI Sports Staff are DBS Checked.

The Tournament is operated in accordance to the RFU regulations. All age groups are played in line with the RFU Age Grade Regulations. SCI encourages all teams & players to participate & abide by Fair Play at all times.

The festival is sanctioned by the NLD RFU.

Teams outside of England should specifically read all Age Grade Rugby details of the England Rugby Website so that you are fully aware of the RFU’s regulations.

Squad sizes – we do not have a specific rule on squad sizes for the SCI Sports Skegness Challenge, however our recommendations are as follows:

  • Under 7s – 4-a-side - 7 Players
  • Under 8s – 6-a-side - 9 Players
  • Under 9s – 7-a-side - 11 Players
  • Under 10s – 8-a-side - 13 Players
  • Under 11s – 9-a-side - 16 Players
  • Under 12s – 12-a-side - 20 Players
  • Under 13s - 13-a-side - 21 Players
  • Under 14s - 15-a-side - 23 Players
  • Under 12s Girls - 9-a-side - 16 Players
  • Under 14s Girls - 9-a-side - 16 Players

SUPERVISION – Adult to Child Ratio’s

A requirement of booking for the SCI Sports Rugby Festivals is that the Adult to Child Ratio is a minimum of 1 Adult to 2 Children. The adult in charge of the accommodation unit must also be 21 years of Age or Over

INSURANCE

SCI Events Limited is insured for Public Liability for the festival through Sports Cover. SCI Sports highly recommends that all teams, if they are not already covered take out appropriate playing and holiday insurance for the tour.

Teams are requested to make sure they have their own insurance in place when taking part in the festival. SCI Sports accepts no responsibility for any persons individual property when attending the festival.

GENERAL BEHAVIOUR

SCI Sports accepts all bookings for the festival in good faith so everyone can have a most enjoyable time on tour. Please be aware that there will be a code of conduct issued prior to the festival which includes what is expected on the holiday park in way of good behaviour.

Any teams who do not abide by the Good Behaviour Charter may be asked to leave the holiday park by park security and no refunds will be issued.

First Aid

A fully qualified First Aid team will be on hand at Skegness Rugby Club throughout the festival to deal with any injuries that may occur. Golden Palm Resort Holiday Park also has qualified First Aider’s on park 24 hours a day.

Teams will be pooled in to groups & can expect to play 3 or 4 games per day on Saturday & Sunday – the final format will depend on final number of entries in to each age grade. Each team will play the maximum amount of Rugby per day for there age group as per the RFU regulations.

Referee’s are provided for all matches in the under 9s to u14s age groups.

Age Groups & Grades

Under 7s – 4-a-side  - Born on or after 1st September 2017

Under 8s – 6-a-side - Born on or after 1st September 2016

Under 9s – 7-a-side - Born on or after 1st September 2015

Under 10s – 8-a-side - Born on or after 1st September 2014

Under 11s – 9-a-side - Born on or after 1st September 2013

Boys & Girls Under 12s – 12-a-side - Born on or after 1st September 2012
Under 13s – 13-a-side - Born on or after 1st September 2011
Boys & Girls Under 14s – 15-a-side - Born on or after 1st September 2010

There are no entry fee’s to enter the SCI Sports Skegness Challenge – all tournament & presentation costs are rolled into one price which is for the accommodation.

It is a strict condition of entry to the festival that all members of your party, whether players, coaches, parents, children & spectators, book all their accommodation for the weekend through SCI Sports. The SCI Sports presentation night is strictly entry by SCI ticket only.

SCI is delighted to announce the 2025 SCI Sports Mini & Youth Rugby Festival at the superb coastal resort of Skegness in Lincolnshire. All Rugby matches will be played at Wainfleet Road the home of Skegness Rugby Club.
